Gogol the Golden Golem is a special picture book. The characters are very developed just within a few pages. It is beautifully illustrated. Gogol is a hard-done-by character who loses his golden (skin?) and goes on a long journey to find it again. Friends are lost and others are gained on the way. Eventually he learns what has been in front of him all journey: that he doesn’t need to be golden (a metaphor for good looks or richness?) to have friends, but true friends will be with him for who he is. A beautifully executed book!

She is a brilliant author and illustrator. The children I know are impatiently waiting for her new book.

I bought both of your books for my son and he just loved both of them. Gogol is a beautifully written and illustrated book which inspires the imagination of the children and gives them warm feelings and hope about friendship and solidarity. Congratulations!

A very different book. It creates a lot of different opportunities to talk about loss, friendships and self value with the children.

This was an absolutely delightful find. It’s been a long time since I found a children’s book that feels like a real treasure but this is exactly the kind of book I’ve been looking for, for my little girl. It has great characters and a real epic story feel and whilst a lot of books nowadays have little re-read value, my daughter has been asking for it every night. I can’t recommend it enough!
